The containment measures will disappear, but it is it is clear that habits are going to change for good, in general and in the sales in particular. Paradoxically, this will help imaginative companies to recruit better salespeople for new practices who will stay.

We’ve already described the advantages of using search engines to find a job in a previous article, and here we’ll look at the benefits of using videoconferencing to recruit remotely.

  • Sales staff will be able to demonstrate their ability to master the new technologies they will be required to use in their work.
  • The recruitment pool will be enlarged, as they will be able to work from home several hundred or even thousands of kilometers away.
  • The selection process will only be stronger and better, because we’ll be able to choose the best people, not those who live next door to the company.
  • Communication systems such as Zoom already make it possible to conduct group interviews, making it easier to compare candidates.
  • Presenting the organization will be easier thanks to pre-prepared videos
  • Each candidate will be able to demonstrate his or her mastery of the new technology. Those who aren’t cut out for it won’t even show up.
  • They could be asked to perform a role-play in which they have to sell a product or service remotely, and confidently respond to objections from people they don’t know.
  • We’ll even be able to pay them and hire them on a trial basis for a day of customer solicitation, and assess their real qualities against those they’ve described to us. Live and recorded listening capabilities are extremely powerful.
  • The skills that can be assessed are broadened: persuasion skills, mastery of technology, quality of remote presentations.

It’s also easier for recruiters to hire remotely:

  • No need to reserve premises for interviews
  • There’s no need to call in the organization’s directors for the selection – they can do it from home or elsewhere.
  • No need to go through a recruitment agency as the process is faster and simpler
  • All small and medium-sized companies have access to it, and can compete on an equal footing or even with advantages over larger organizations.

It’s a great time to be alive, if you know how to make the most of it!
